In order for us to achieve the Magic Planet 2.0 theme in this unit, we assessed the spaces throughout for their assets and constraints, with the design materializing as a progressive discovery of changing spaces for the user.
The main idea was focusing on creating a spatial experience for the users the moment they enter and explore the various units of the space while enhancing the sense of adventure and excitement, as the visitors will find themselves experiencing a progressively changing scale of space in all dimensions as well as in the nature of the rides.
To apply the magic planet theme in our project, the zones were arranged in a way to reflect the idea of a landed space-ship on a planet that has a Crystal Mine on it. Within the zones, different rides and games will also be arranged following the same theme all to give the sense of space traveling. The crystal mine zone will be the main entry point once the visitor walks into the space with the starry sky simulation reflected on the ceiling with its fluid lines and geometry, Adding the carousel ride in the corner to highlight on the dynamic environment of the zone. Walking in a little bit more into the space will lead to the video games zone which will have the landed space-ship theme with its different elements featured around it, parts will be used for columns cladding, others will be reflected on the ceiling, and major elements will be used on the redemption counter. The last corner of the space will include the Softplay focusing on showing spatial characteristics reflected on the treatments of the walls and the ceiling.
All the zones together were designed and developed to create a colorful thrilling and exciting experience for the visitors to and from the magic planet, playing progressively with the themed rides and games within the different zones and atmosphere.
