AIRFIELD LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS Nasosny Air Force Base, Sumqayit, Azerbaijan
As a sub-consultant to DME Corporation, RW Armstrong provided engineering design services for the Runway 18-36 Airfield Lighting Improvements at Nasosny Air Force Base in Sumqayit, Azerbaijan.This turnkey project was part of an overall program by the United States Air Force to upgrade and improve the Nasosny AFB to NATO and ICAO standards. The major design elements of this project include:
- Runway and taxiway edge lighting
- Precision Approach Lighting System for Runway 36
- Simplified Approach Lighting System for Runway 18
- Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPIs)
- Airfield Guidance Signs
- Runway Distance Markers
- Wind Cone
- New Airfield Electrical Vault
- Airfield Lighting Control System
RW Armstrong was also responsible for coordinating the civil design with the United States Air Force and ensuring the design meets NATO and ICAO standards.
