RW Armstrong provided resident engineering services at Al Bateen Airport for the projects that were designed in the detailed investigation and design phase.

The Al Bateen Airport improvements allowed for the conversion from military
use to civilian use to meet the requirements of the International Civil
Aeronautics Organization (ICAO) and the Civil Aviation Regulations of the
United Arab Emirates, as adopted by the General Aviation Authority (GCAA). 

The activities included in the resident engineering services:   

• New airfield pavement markings.
• Runway strip and runway end safety area clean-up and grading.
• New airfield ground lighting and signage.
• Category I approach lighting system.
• Airfield lighting control system.
• Airfield pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction.
• New security fence.
• Crash gates.
• New airport entrance.
• Military office and dormitory.
