RW Armstrong provided Concept Design for the 24,500 square meter model school intended for modular replication in sixteen locations in Abu Dhabi. This work included Kindergarten through High School classroom spaces as well as outdoor play and sports areas, children’s and adult pools, theatre spaces, cafeterias and offices.

Schools are intended to provide additional support for fast-growing areas of Abu Dhabi. Completed structures are to comply with the requirements of regulating authority Abu Dhabi Education Council as well as the 2 Pearl requirements of Estidama Green Building guidelines.

Zones within the school are represented with different Arid Climate colors and materials that represent separate natural geographic areas found in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Extensive use of shading devices, for the comfortable use of indoor spaces as well as four-season outdoor spaces, is a defining characteristic of the work.
